Billiards/Pool Highlighted Players

Johnny Younger

Crittenden, KY

Congratulations to you Johnny & your team of 5 that took first place in the BJ Novelty Winter Pool league!

How would you say the season went for you and your fellow team mates?

By far it was a tough season. There are a lot of talented players in this league, we got lucky to come out the champions. We have a great team of 5, which likes to enjoy ourselves.

Can you tell us what got you started in billiards to begin with?

Boys club, I was 12 years old when I first started playing. The instructors would play against us and I would love to beat them. It was good fun.

What does your nickname “Johnny Thunder stick” mean and how did you
get that nickname?

A good friend of mine John Williamson Jr. came up with name. It was right before the start of a game when AC/DC Thunderstruck came onto the Jukebox. It was then he started calling me Johnny Thunder stick. I enjoy it, so it stuck.

What exactly is it that you do so much better than all the other players out there?

I have a good eye for cut shots. I would rather cut balls into the pocket than shoot them straight in. My other favorite shot would be the off the wall banks.

Do you have any special features that you would like to achieve this year in the
game of pool?

YES, that would be to make the “8 on the break”. This winter season I was unable to get one. Normally every season I at least get one and so far this season I haven’t. So this is something I am working on for the summer league!

What would you like to improve on in your game?

My defense. I need to work on my leaves for my opponents.

How would you describe your pool game in one word?

Aggressive… win the game!! No holding back.

Tom Ferguson

Johnny Younger’s Teammate

Congratulations Tom to you and your team on taking first in division and also first in the tournament!!

How long have you been in the BJ Novelty league
and when did you start to actually start playing the
great game?

This was my first session with the BJN league. I really enjoy playing in it. I first picked up a stick when I was 7 years old and been playing ever since.

Do you have any players that admire or look up to for their skills?

Yes, My daughter Anna Ferguson. She has taking a liking to the great sport. We like to play each other almost everyday. One day I know she will be able to beat me!

Judy Callahan

Judy's father taught her to shoot pool and her most memorable moment is when she first beat him! Her favorite places to play are Spinning Wheel and Peaselburg Inn.

Cathie Dees

Cathie Dees is the lady pool player. She has been playing for 30 years and states that men take her seriously. Cathie would love to see more women in the game.
